Uni of Chitral celebrates International Women’s Day

The University of Chitral celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing a special program in the campus.
First ever woman District Police Officer (DPO) Sonia Shamroz attended the event as a chief guest and delivered a special speech mentioning the importance of women and their contribution in the society.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university, Dr Zahir Shah and a number of students and faculty staff attended the event.
On this occasion, VC of the University of Chitral said that the International Women Day is celebrated globally to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
He said that Islam recognized the rights of women 1400 years ago, adding that young women to follow the guidelines of Islam and play a positive role in the society.
DPO Sonia Shamroz said that there were limited professions for women but they should focus on their career and make themselves, their family and their parents feel proud.
She advised the young women to stay away from the misuse of mobile phones and social media and work hard for the better future of the coming generation.
Sonia Shamroz also held a separate session with female students of the varsity and discussed the issues they faced.
Later on, the VC of the university presented books to DPO Chitral Sonia Shamroz.
