PML-N candidate withdraws in favour of JUI-F

The candidates of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Sami-ul-Haq (JUI-S) withdrew their nomination papers in favour of the nominee of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) for the slot of NA-33 by-election in district Hangu.
Al Haaj Farid Mufakkir, the candidate of PML-N for the seat of National Assembly in the constituency NA-33, Hangu has announced his withdrawal from taking part in the forthcoming bye election in favor of JUI-F’s candidate Akhunzada Mufti Obaid Ullah.
Sources claimed that the decision has been taken after consultation among the leaders of the both parties. It is pertinent to mention here that PML-N and JUI-F are strong allies in PDM.
Similarly, another candidate namely Abdul Rafi of JUI-S has also decided to support the JUI-F candidate unconditionally and made announcement withdrawal from contesting election in favor of Akhunzada Mufti Obaid Ullah, a strong candidate in the constituency.
Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning here that after withdrawal of two candidates in favor of JUI-F candidate, there are nine candidates in the run for contesting bye elections for the seat of National Assembly in Hangu.
The candidates include Dr Nadeem Khyal, of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI), Akhunzada Mufti Obaidullah of JUI-F, Abid Wazir, ticket holder of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Syed Umar Orakzai of Awami National Party (ANP).
Five more supporting and independent candidates including Malik Khalid Naeem, Atiq Ahmed, Yusuf Khan, Mohammad Saeed and Mohammad Tufail may withdraw their nomination papers, sources confided, adding that position would be cleared today (Friday) after issuing of final list of the contesting candidates.
It is worth mentioning here that polling is scheduled to be held on April 10, 2022 next month. This seat was vacated due to the death of PTI MNA Khayal Zaman Orakzai on February 14, 2022.
