Peshawar Pigeon wins pigeon race final

PESHAWAR: Pigeons used to be used for messaging in the past but now in modern times a large number of youths are attracted towards pigeon races. Pigeon races will soon be made a part of sports at the provincial level. The sponsorship of the game will also be obtained. These views were expressed by the Chairman Peshawar Homing Pigeon Association Rafiq-ur-Rehman and others while addressing the award ceremony for the winners of Pigeon Race. General Secretary Zeeshan Khan, Finance Secretary Amir Khan, Patron General Haji Jameel-ur-Rehman and officials of five clubs from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and other districts were also present. Deputy Commissioner Shafiullah Khan Peshawar was the special guest. Assistant Commissioner Shah Alam was also present on the occasion. Omar Owais Kayani and other officials of Sports Directorate also participated in the 600 km race organized by Peshawar Homing Pigeon Association from Rajasthan area of Sindh to Peshawar, crossing a distance of 600km.
Reach Peshawar first while the pigeons of the same club won the second and third position, the winners of the pigeon race were also given prizes and trophies by DC Peshawar to the owners of the pigeons who won the race starting from Punjab and other areas.
A cake cutting ceremony was also held in connection with the Pakistan Day celebration. Leading Pashto singer Irfan Kamal entertained the audience by singing and singing songs. Deputy Commissioner Peshawar distributed prizes among the winners. He said that it is an expensive hobby but a large number of youths are coming towards it which is keeping them away from drugs and other diseases. Cash prizes, certificates, trophies and shields were distributed to the owners who won the pigeon race.
