President, PM express deep grief, sorrow over sad demise of renowned journalist
ISLAMABAD: Veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief daily Pakistan Observer Zahid Malik passed away after protracted illness on Thursday morning.
He was also Patron in Chief of Nazaria-e-Pakistan Council.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned journalist Zahid Malik.
In his condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
Paying tributes to the services of Zahid Malik in the field of journalism, the Prime Minister said the Editor-in-Chief of daily Pakistan Observer remained committed to the freedom of press and enlightened us with his valuable thoughts and experiences throughout his career.
His death is a loss to the country and journalism. His services and contributions towards promotion of journalism in Pakistan will be remembered in all times to come.
President Mamnoon Hussain has also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Pakistan Observer Editor-in-Chief Zahid Malik. In his message, he said the services of Zahid Malik in the field of journalism will be remembered for all times to come.
Adviser on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui has also expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Zahid Malik. He said Zahid Malik was a true Pakistani who was immersed with the love for ideology of Pakistan.
Mr Zahid Malik had recently returned from China where he had a lengthy treatment of Cancer.

Newspapers Society on behalf of the Office Bearers and members of the Society have expressed their profound grief over the sad demise of Veteran and Senior colleague, Zahid Malik, Editor-in- Chief and Publisher of the prestigious English newspaper of Daily Pakistan Observer. Zahid Malik retired as a Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of Pakistan. Having done Masters in Mass Communications in 1960 and with the rich experience he gained in the civil service, he launched his own Publication
House in 1978. He was author of a dozen books with over 2000 articles and comments were to his credit.
He was believed to be an authority on the matters relating to media.
He had participated
in national as well as international seminars on mass media and journalism.
The APNS Office Bearers expressed their condolence and prayed that Almighty Allah
may rest the departed soul in peace .
