ISLAMABAD
State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has extended expiry date of old currency note of 10, 50, 100 and 1000 on Friday.
SBP is the sole institution to issue currency notes.
SBP collects old and dirty notes from market and provide new and fresh ones. For this purpose SBP issue new series of currency notes time by time which also helps to end the corruption of central banks and keeps the sovereignty of notes.
New series of notes has been issued from 2005 to 2008 and old notes he been collected with the passage of time and these notes have been cancelled on 1st December 2016.
For this purpose government has decided to cancel the notes of 10,50, 100 and 1000.
In a statement SBP has extended the date to exchange the currency notes till 30 december.
People may exchange the currency notes int Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Haiderabad, Sialkot, Sukkur, Bahawalpur, Muzafarabad and DI Khan.
After 31 December these note will not be accepted anywhere.
