PDWP approves 54 projects worth Rs57 billion

Rs10 billion approved for erstwhile Fata roads and bridges construction
PESHAWAR
The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Friday approved a total of 54 development projects with a cumulative estimated cost of about Rs57 billion including a comprehensive plan worth Rs 10 billion for construction, rehabilitation and improvement of roads and bridges in the tribal districts of the province.
The meeting, presided over by the Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (ACS-KP), approved the projects for merged areas on the special directive of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, said a handout.
The PDWP during its 22nd meeting cleared projects including supply of clean drinking water and solarization in Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Malakand and construction of a parking plaza in Mingora.
The schemes included rehabilitation and solarization of water supply schemes in Khyber and Mohmand while rehabilitation and solarization of irrigation water supply schemes in FR Peshawar and Kohat PC-1, District Mardan Union Council Construction and improvement of roads, flood protection works, culverts and drains in Bagh, construction of irrigation tube wells in integrated areas.
The meeting also cleared funds for the construction of lift irrigation schemes and solarization of existing irrigation tube wells, construction and improvement of irrigation channels in merged districts and Construction of check dams and reservoirs, small dams and power section, formation of project support unit for monitoring field activities in ex FATA.
Establishment of playgrounds in Matta and Shamozai, establishment of Government Girls Degree college in Buner Shell Banda District, Abbottabad Galyat District and Charsadda Shabqadar District and Degree College in Abbottabad Lora District have been cleared.
Improving the impact of projects of Swat University of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Department of Agriculture Through Climate Resilience Horticulture Projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Establishment of Model Dairy Farms in North Waziristan District, Plans to Increase Rice Production Capacity in KP, cultivable wasteland development in tribal districts.
The meeting also approved PC-I to upgrade Gomal University’s Faculty of Agriculture to DI Khan University, establishment of Forest Knowledge Parks in Southern Districts in the Forest Department and environmental protection offices in merged districts of the province.
