KP Govt carried out audit of Sehat Card Program

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has carried out a third party audit of the Sehat Insaf Card from a reputable audit firm in order to make it more transparent.
This was announced by the provincial Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra talking to media men on Health Card Audit Report here on Monday.
He said that the third party audit of health card was audited by Pakistan’s best third party institution, adding that all operations carried out under the Sehat Insaf Card from November 2020 to June 2021 have been scrutinized adequately. All payments and receipts and patients received coverage in different public and private sector hospitals of the province were examined.
Mr Jhagra claimed that 97 percent of patients who received treatment under the program declared it satisfactory, he added, the provincial government has achieved another milestone by completing the process of audit of Sehat Card Program.
Timur Saleem Jhagra, while announcing the third party audit on health Card, said that he had promised to make public the audit report of transparency of health card.
The health minister told reporters that the audit teams visited various hospitals in the province and checked the receipts and patients and reviewed the facilities available to the patients.
“The enrollment process on the hospital panel was painstakingly scrutinized and reviews of all procurement under the program were also carried out,” he shared.
The Finance Minister said that the auditing agencies also came up with suggestions to make the treatment under Health Card more convenient and people friendly. The agency has also proposed surprise visits of patients undergoing treatment under the Health Card of District Monitoring Officers, further strengthening the monitoring system and enabling the e-claim process.

The health minister added that the intention was to conduct a third party audit of all autonomous bodies. This year, free treatment for five more major and life-threatening diseases will be included in the health card in phases. Government employees will be able to avail one of the benefits of Medical Allowance or Free OPD. Government employees can avail the facility of free OPD in lieu of medical allowance which will be of great benefit to government employees as the medical allowance of the employees is not sufficient to cover all the expenses of OPD.
