ISLAMABAD / RAWALAKOT
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday issued a show cause notice to the former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, and directed him to appear before party’s secretary general Asad Umar on June 26.
According to the show cause notice, Niazi is directed to explain his stance in written form on his appearance, otherwise ‘disciplinary action’ would be taken against the former AJK PM.
In the show cause notice, party’s secretary general has maintained that Abdul Qayyum Niazi had labeled ‘extremely serious’ allegations of financial corruption against former Kashmir Affairs’ minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other party leaders. Notice further states that the party enabled Niazi to become the AJK PM, and he was still a parliamentary party member.
It is pertinent to mention here that former AJK Prime Minister Abdul Qayyum Niazi had alleged former Kashmir Affairs’ minister Ali Amin Gandapur of taking “huge bribe” from Sardar Tanvir Ilyas to topple his (Niazi’s) government. Niazi’s government in the Pakistani-administered part of Jammu and Kashmir had been dislodged through a vote of no confidence by his own party members. After throwing his government away, Sardar Tanvir Ilyas, another wealthy Kashmiri figure had become the Prime Minister of AJK.
