WANA
A press conference was held at the District Press Club Wana Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF) NGO and Health Department of the Karmaz Khel Tribes in Wana, the district headquarter of South Waziristan.
According to details, addressing a news conference at District Press Club Wana, Bilal, Maulana Taj Mohammad, Maviz Khan, Janat Mir, Jabar Khan, Malik Jan Mohammad, Dost Mohammad, Malik Imran and others said,
That we Karmaz Khel Tribes conditionally gave 600 kanals of valuable and commercial land to the government for the District Headquarter Hospital Wana for the convenience of the people under an agreement.
Under the agreement, in addition to the public interest, the number of Class IV jobs at the District Headquarters Hospital Wana will be considered the nation of Karmaz Khel.
In which no one else will interfere, while the contract for construction work in the hospital will also belong to the Karmaz Khel nation.
If there is any technical post in the district headquarter hospital other than class four, then the youth of Karmaz Khel nation will also be given priority in it.
Under these conditions, the Karmaz Khel tribes had given valuable lands to the government.
“Through the media, we, the Karmaz Khel tribes, want to keep the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Department officials and all concerned civilians and the military informed of their legitimate demands and rights,” the tribal elders said.
They said that now the agreement written by the concerned NGO is being violated, as in January 2022 the government handed over the hospital to a private organization Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF)
Some time ago, Shah Mehran, CEO of MERF, a private organization, awarded the contract for the construction of the hospital to a close relative named Sohaib, who, in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Wana, openly disclosed the agreement reached between Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF) NGO and Karmaz Khel tribes is violated,
The Karmaz Khel tribesmen consider such measures to be a breach of the agreement and reprimanded the reverse thief Kotwal, as an example, the said MERF CEO had registered an FIR against 17 people of the Karmaz Khel nation and arrested them.
They further said that on the one hand he was violating the agreement reached with the nation and on the other hand he was making false FIRs which was utter cruelty and injustice to the Karmaz Khel tribes.
This has led to fears of deteriorating conditions at the local level.
They urged Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, Health Minister Taimur Jhagra, Secretary Health and DG Health KPK.
In this regard, in the context of public-private partnership, the embezzlement and oppression of the MERF organization should be investigated and the nation of Karmaz Khel should be brought to justice.
“If our legitimate demands are not met, we will be forced to close the main highway in front of the tehsil building wana” they threatened.
