Tribesmen suspend Pak-Afghan road in protest against power off in Jamrud

Tribesmen of Jamrud blocked the Pak-Afghan highway in protest against excessive power outage here in Jamrud on Monday.
Large numbers of people from different walk of life including female councilors approached in front of grid station, jamrud and initiated a protest sit-in on the main road that suspended all kinds of traffic.
The protestors were holding placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demand and chanted slogans against Tesco and Wapda officials for conducting allegedly unjustified load shedding.
Addressing the angry mob the speakers including Shahid Zaman Afridi, Malik Zaheen Gul Afridi and others said that electricity load shedding in Jamrud has reached to twenty hours round the clock, which is unfair to them.
Since long they have been deprived of all basic rights and facilities being enjoyed by the rest of the citizens of the country, they remarked.
Excessive power off has suffered all activities of life and it has created a temporary problem of scarcity of potable water.
They demanded that as per the schedule of Tesco officials,provide them six hours of electricity in twenty hours to Jmarud otherwise they will not give up their agitation.
Remaining suspended for hours, traffic on the Pak-Afghan highway was resumed after assurance of the administrative, Tesco officials.
