Another polio case detected from KP takes total tally to 14 in 2022

Peshawar: One more polio case has been reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), bringing the tally for this year to 14. According to a statement issued here on Wednesday by the Pakistan’s National Polio Laboratory at the National Institute of Health Islamabad that polio virus was detected in eight-month-old girl from district North Waziristan tehsil Miran Shah. It is pertinent to mention here that it was the third Wild Polio Case from Tehsil Miranshah and the 13th Case from District North Waziristan in 2022. “This last case puts the Wild Polio Case count for endemic countries at 15, with 14 Cases from Pakistan between April and July 2022 and one Case from Afghanistan in January 2022,” it added.
