KP’s LG Minister calls for improvement in municipal services in monsoon

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Faisal Amin Gandapur has issued instructions to local bodies to ensure municipal services as per the town planning.
The local body officials should pay keen attention to drainage arrangements during the ongoing monsoon rains.
He issued these instructions while chairing a meeting at the local government secretariat on Wednesday.
“Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed that all concerned departments and civic body agencies of the province should have an effective coordination mechanism for the development of the province,” he added.
Faisal Amin elaborated that the local body department and its attached departments have a very crucial and critical role in providing service to masses in time of emergency.
He said that the provision of the best facilities of potable water, hygiene, sanitation and drainage to the people were among the top most priorities of the municipalities, adding that the basic task of planning was also involved in the proper discharge of these responsibilities.
The duty of all the local bodies’ institutions to make the achievement of these basic objectives its motto and to provide municipal services to the citizens by planning the best in collaboration with the relevant departments, he added.
The Local Government Minister said, “torrential rains and floods in Chitral have caused more damages to the people there, but the provincial government and the people cannot afford such disasters anymore, so the local bodies should be fully prepared to minimize the damages caused by heavy rains and floods through better drainage system, ‘’ he maintained.
Faisal Amin Gandapur expressed the confidence that all municipal officials would perform their duties diligently without discrimination and hence they would work together round the clock to provide maximum relief to the people in terms of municipal facilities, he concluded.
