MUSCAT:Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that as Pakistan-Oman relationship is bound in history and very unique “there is a need for further boosting relations.” He was speaking to Omani officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
“I understand there has been a considerable gap in exchanges from both sides. There is a need for intensified efforts to strengthen the political and economic relations especially in trade, investments, maritime security, energy cooperation and port connectivity,” Aziz said.
“My visit will reaffirm the commitment and deepen this relationship and carry this to a much higher level. We are just not neighbours across the sea, we are also strategically placed in relation to each other and in relation to the rest of the world.”
Aziz said there is a need to promote people-to-people contact through students and parliament exchanges as well as cultural, educational and sports linkages.
“I am happy to say that Pakistan’s security situation has improved in the last three years after it launched a multi-dimensional strategy to eliminate terrorism.”
Aziz was on a two-day visit to Oman and also attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Pakistani Embassy at the Diplomatic Enclave in Muscat. The embassy is expected to be completed within two years.
