LAHORE :Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to impose smog emergency in Lahore besides directing chief secretary Punjab to summon meeting soon in connection with smog emergency.

The court has ordered that the measures for prevention of smog be given final shape and teams in this regard be set up immediately.

The court order said that the factories causing smog be shut immediately. Vehicles be provided to teams for their movement. If it is not done so then chief secretary office vehicles will be sent.
The court also issued orders to purchase the equipment for checking air quality within two weeks. Planning and Development department should release funds to purchase these vehicles. The court has nothing to do with any international institution. The funds be provided to purchase the equipment by stopping salaries or any project.

Action be taken against those who are found involved in burning the remnant of the crops

The court remarked Lahore has become the most polluted city of the world since one week. World Bank and foreign institutions are ready to provide funds but here this has fallen on deaf ears. They run after the dollars because they go to pocket of some one.
MD WASA told that about 400 unnecessary vehicles of WASA have been shut due to smog. Steps are being taken to switch WASA offices to solar energy.
