Former PM says he intends to move court as ‘audio leaks are a serious breach of national security’
Islamabad
Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan has called for an investigation of recent audio leaks purportedly featuring conversations of incumbent and former rulers including the prime minister.
In a tweet from his official handle on Monday, the deposed premier said he was planning to move the court for an investigation into the audio leaks.
Imran said the audio leaks are a serious breach of national security as they called into question the entire security of the Prime Minister’s Office and his house.
“As PM my secure line at my residence was also bugged. We intend to go to Court to establish authenticity of Leaks & then form JIT to investigate which Intel[ligence] agency is responsible for the bugging & who is leaking out the audios many of which are edited/doctored,” he wrote.
The PTI chief said the investigation is critical “because sensitive security issues are & have been illegally recorded & subsequently hacked, implying confidentiality of Pak’s national security has been exposed globally”.
