What could be termed a big relief for the people, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Saturday announced Rs4.25 cut per unit in the power tariff.
It was also clarified that there is no increase in the category wise rates of quarterly adjustments, as the 4th Quarterly adjustment will only replace the existing applicable Quarterly adjustments being charged from the consumers, expiring on 30 of last month. The NEPRA had given the decision yesterday (Friday, October 14, 2022) for the fourth quarterly adjustment of the year 2021-22.
Meanwhile, in a statement Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Saturday said electricity price had been reduced by Rs 4.25 in October on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“The prices have been reduced in terms of fuel charges adjustment,” she said in a news statement. The minister said it was a “big relief” for the public from PM Shehbaz Sharif.
She said it had been decided to continue the same quarterly adjustment which was charged in the electricity bills for September. The initiative was taken keeping in view the burden of rising prices of electricity on public, she added.
The announcement was meant to provide the inflation-hit people with a breather.
