ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad on Monday rejected further physical remand of PTI Senator Azam Swati and sent him to jail on judicial remand. Senator Swati told reporters last week that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested due to his tweets. The PTI leader in a tweet had congratulated the army chief hours after the Lahore High Court acquitted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz in a corruption case. Swati was produced in a court and the FIA sought more physical remand after completion of his four-day remand. Senior civil judge Muhammad Shabbir refused the FIA request for further remand. Swati’s lawyer Babar Awan opposed further remand and said the FIA has already recovered what they had wanted. The prosecutor had sought a three-day physical remand of Swati but the court dismissed the request and sent him to jail on judicial remand. DNA
