Acting Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said on Friday that the valuable services of lawyers for upholding the Constitution and the law were commendable.
Lawyers were defenders of the democracy, human rights and the Constitution and their role for the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution was part of history, Mushtaq Ghani said while addressing a function in honour of the newly elected office-bearers of the Peshawar High Court Bar Abbotabad Bench.
” Despites the facts that the federal government was creating hurdles, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to the welfare of people,” he remarked.
He said the government was aware of the problems of the legal fraternity and their solution was its first priority.
The Acting Governor added that the politics of bar associations should be independent, the government and political parties should not interfere in it.
Ghani said that the lawyers should play thier due role in restoration of real democracy and bringing political and financial stability.
Acting Governor KP congratulated the newly elected office bearers of Abbotabad Bench and gave a check worth Rs3 million to the elected representatives. President High Court Bar Mehdi Zaman, Secretary Advocate General Malik Zaman, District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Khan also spoke on the occasion.
The president of Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council chairman Mohammad Ali,and presidents of Abbotabad , Harpure, Battagram and Mansehra Bar Association attended the ceremony.
