PESHAWAR
The elementary and secondary education department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suspended transfer orders of two senior officials on the directives of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The ECP had directed the department to halt the postings and transfers of officials in tribal district Kurram where by-elections were scheduled to be held on Oct 30. In a reshuffle earlier this week, KP’s education department had transferred and posted two senior officials at the district. These officials’ two officers of grade 18 and 19 respectively, one is presently serving in district Kurram as DEO Male and the other at the same position at Dir Lower.
However, the ECP took notice and directed the department to withdraw the notifications for the district Kurram as it had announced by-elections.
A statement issued by the provincial election commissioner that the above-mentioned postings and transfers had been cancelled and it was against the rules set by the ECP for holding fare and transparent by-elections in the province.
