Rs3.5m released for displaced families in NW

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday released Rs3.5 million for the affected people of Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan district. PDMA director general Sharif Hussain said the funds would be distributed among the registered affected families within the next two days by sending a message through their registered SIM cards. Under the package, Rs12,000 would be distributed per month among families repatriated from Afghanistan, while a ration allowance of Rs8,000 per family would also be distributed after the verification. According to DG PDMA, there are 15,891 affected families of North Waziristan, most of them belonging to Datta Khel Tehsil, yet to be returned from Afghanistan. DG stated that the reason behind provision of compensation was to provide affected families financial support to reduce their problems. He said that so far, more than 1 lakh families affected during the operations have been returned to their native areas in tribal districts. DLP Report
