Women play pivotal role in the development of society, this was said by the chief guest, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Special Assistant for Information KP, while addressing the participants of five-day electronic media workshop in Peshawar. The honorary guest said that, freedom of expression at the international level is freedom of thought and belief. Another view of freedom of expression is that you should also know your limitations, said Mr. Saif.
He said that, the values and customs of the society are included in your thinking but conflict happens when you talk about a particular value and on the other hand there is opposition to it.
It is the time when you can answer for yourself about the right and wrong. The challenge is who is on the right side?
He further stated that, the teachings of Allah almighty and the Prophet (peace be upon him) are most important for the Muslims.
Saif also acknowledge the contradictions in the nature of man and stated that solving those contradictions by finding a way out is the only solution. He said, every society has different aspects but it is the struggle they made that makes them better
Journalists, politicians, religious figures can garner respect if they all work for the welfare of people but if they start working for self-interest, then there will be a breakdown in the society.
Students from major universities of the city associated with journalism participated in this training program. This workshop “Freedom of Expression: Media Freedom and Safety of Journalists” is arranged by Women Media Center, Pakistan in collaboration with National Endowment for Democracy, USA.
