Two policemen were martyred and two were injured in an attack by unknown persons armed with rockets and grenades on Zaghzai police station in Tehsil Barmal of South Waziristan Wednesday.
According to police sources the martyred police personnel included Hamid Ullah and Farman Ullah. The attackers set ablaze the vehicle of police station during the attack. They also took away vehicle of the SHO along with weapons.
The bodies of martyred policemen and injured were shifted to the hospital.
The armed men left the official vehicle of SHO on the way and fled.
The police retaliated the attack but the strength of the attackers was far more than the police personnel.
Earlier, two soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom when their convoy came under attack by terrorists in Hassan Khel area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province’s North Waziristan district.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), “Own troops initiated a prompt response, effectively engaged and killed three terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists.”
The terrorists remained actively involved in terror activities against security forces, the ISPR added.
