Khyber councilors demand release of funds

Councilors of Khyber in a protest demonstration held at Babe Khyber, Jamrud demanded the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) to immediately provide funds for them and stop exploitation of them.
City mayor, scores of councils chairmen and general councillors, elected in first ever Local Bodies (LB) election in merged district of Khyber took out a protest rally at Bab-e-Khyber, criticizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e- insaf(PTI)provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for unprovision of funds to conduct development schemes in their respective constituencies.
Speaking on the occasion Tehsil Chairman Said Nawab Afridi, Shahid Khan Afridi, Inayat Khan Afridi and others said that offices, funds and other facilities were not provided although one year passed, they had elected.
Injustice was done to local bodies (LBs) representatives by the provincial government and DG local government that was regretful, they remarked. Not providing funds to the representatives of LBs equllent to negate our constitutional status that added and said the provincial government should materialize its promise and at once release development funds to the councilors and stop schemes curtaining powers of LBs councilors.
They maintained, councilors of merged districts are being deceived and for the last one year, development funds are being halted, which is injustice to the people residing in backward areas.
They demanded the Prime Minister of the Country, Chief Justice and Chairman Tehreek-e- Insaf Imran Khan to issue directions to the KP government to provide them funds for the development projects so they would initiate indefinite agitation against it.
The participants’ holding placards inscribed with sayings in favor of their demands and chanted slogans against the KP government.
