Sexual harassment case
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has allowed singer Meesha Shafi to record her statement from abroad through video link in the case of sexual harassment filed by her against renowned singer Ali Zafar. The SC has maintained in its written decision that singer Meesha Shafi does not need to come to Pakistan for merely recording her statement. She too does not need to go to Pakistan embassy in Canada for cross examination. Virtual presence is sufficient to record statement in the court. The court maintained in its order Meesha Shafi is being cross questioned since the last 8 months. Unfortunately bid is made to get change the statement of the affected respondent through pressure by using dilatory tactics in cross questioning. The court further observed the judge should not sit like a glum spectator during the cross questioning. The judge should interfere if he feels the right to cross questioning is being misused.
