Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly-anticipated Netflix docu-series, entitled Harry and Meghan, is being released on the streaming giant on Thursday. The potential content of the series was discussed on Monday’s instalment of Lorraine, with royal author Valentine Low suggesting Prince William could respond to claims made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the series.
Valentine began: “William in particular is a very cautious individual and he doesn’t want to inflame things.
“He’s always told his team, quite often, not to engage in tit-for-tat briefings.
“But he also won’t let terrible accusations slide, and we saw that after the Oprah Winfrey interview when he was asked a couple of days later about racism. He said, ‘We are very much not a racist family.’”
Harry and Meghan’s 2021 interview with Oprah sent shockwaves across the globe, with the pair making several “damaging” accusations about the Royal Family.
Valentine added: “I think he won’t let the worst accusations slide but I think he will do his best not to fan the flames of what has been a very painful and damaging family dispute.”
It is not known what accusations have been made during the filming of the doc-series.
The trailer dropped during Kate Middleton and her husband’s trip to Boston where they met with US President Joe Biden.
It has been reported senior palace officials working with Prince William will watch the first three episodes to ensure action can be taken if needed.
The report in The Sunday Express suggests the Prince and Princess of Wales are willing to scrap the long-standing royal mantra of “never complain, never explain”.
A source added: “The Prince and Princesses’ team will wait to see what’s in the Netflix series before deciding what to do, but you can see the direction of travel.”
The Royal Family took two days to issue a statement following Harry and Meghan’s Oprah Winfrey interview.
During that interview, the Sussexes claimed a royal asked them about the colour of their child Archie’s skin tone.
