SWABI: In efforts to ensure availability of wheat and flour under the government quota system, Director food Rehan Khattak visited different wheat storage godowns and flour mills in the district. It is pertinent to mention here that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa food department has intensified monitoring of flour and wheat distribution across the province. During the visits, Director food inspected PRC godowns located at Chota Lahore Swabi and also reviewed the condition of flour dealers in various flour mills and markets. Mr Khattak also paid visits to Joro Flour Mill and Swabi Flour and General Mills located at Jahangira and Kanda on Jahangira Swabi Road and also checked wheat, grinding details, distribution of subsidized flour dealers. On this occasion he said that the provincial government has taken pragmatic steps to ensure flour and wheat distribution under the government quota system, adding that easy and sufficient availability of the staple commodity in KP was the key priority of the food department. In Swabi, 7500 bags of 20 kg government flour are being distributed at subsidized rates on a daily basis, besides the food department has recently increased the daily quota of subsidized wheat from 4000 metric tons to 5000 metric tons. Director food added that a comprehensive monitoring system has been put in place in the province to provide with flour to people at their doorsteps in a clean and transparent manner. All District Food Controllers ( DFCs) have been directed that government flour dealers checking should be ensured so that quality flour can be supplied to the people, he said that no compromise will be made on substandard flour.
