I have invited PTI delegation to return to parliament: Speaker NA

Speaker National Assembly (NA) Raja Pervez Ashraf has said he has invited PTI delegation to return to parliament besides reiterating his stance before the delegation that every will member will have to come along with the hand written resignation.

He said while talking to media men after his meeting with PTI delegation here Thursday.

He stated “ I have extended invitation to PTI delegation to return to parliament. PTI insisted on accepting the resignations of 122 Members of National Assembly (MNAs) simultaneously.
NA speaker told the media that he reiterated his stance before PTI delegation that every member will have to come alone with resignation written by himself. We will accept his resignation after the satisfaction that there is no pressure on the members who is resigning.

Talks have taken place with PTI delegation in conducive environment. I said there are some rules and regulations and limits.

I told the delegation it is mentioned in article 64 that the resignation should be written with one’s own hand while the speaker will make verification of the resignation by summoning the member in person. It is responsibility of the speaker to see if there was not some pressure on the member, he remarked.

He held some members of PTI went to court that they had not tendered resignation. Some members sent leave application. If there is some political position of the party it is a separate thing.

He remarked there is need of reconciliation in the country. The politics should not be kept above national interests. I expect that all parties will keep before them reconciliation factor in view of the prevailing situation in the country.
