Medical emergency declared in Peshawar’s hospitals

The provincial government on Monday imposed a medical emergency in all major hospitals of Peshawar and all Medical Superintendents and District Health Officers have been directed to ensure medical staff and medicine in hospitals falls within the limits of the provincial capital.
According to a notification, “ All MSs and District Health Officer District Peshawar are hereby directed to ensure presence of medical staff, availability of essential medicine and equipment in their respective hospitals in the wake of Police Lines bomb blast today”. The provincial health department has also established a focal point at the public health section of the Director General Health Services to deal with any untoward situation pertaining to the announced health emergency.
Meanwhile, the interim Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has also directed all rescue organisations to speed up relief activities.
The CM has ordered immediate measures to transfer the injured to the hospital, directing the concerned authorities to provide timely medical assistance to the injured who are being shifted to hospitals.
