Drug control team along with district administration and police raided a factory producing spurious drugs and seized a huge cache of fake medicines and machinery on Monday.
The raid was conducted on the direction of Directorate of Drug Control and Pharmacy Services Department of Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a handout.
According to the statement, Drug Control Mardan team led by Drug Inspector Dr Safiullah, Abdul Rauf and Haroon Rasheed along with the district administration and local police conducted a raid on information in Samar Bagh area of Nisata Road.
The team recovered fake drugs and machinery used in making the spurious drugs from a house.
The Directorate General Drug Control and Pharmacy Service has launched crackdowns on units involved in make fake and spurious drugs and held several accused for counterfeit drugs in the province and arrest distributors and retailers.
The officials have directed that medicines should be purchased from authorized agents to eliminate the possibility of fake medicines with prescribed warranty.
The raiding teams have registered cases against the owner of the unit and seized samples of medicines for further investigation.
