Committee formed to ascertain facts behind the blasts at CTD police station Kabal

The death toll from the two blasts inside the Swat district’s Kabal Police Station has risen to 18 as the caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan on Tuesday formed a fact-finding committee to probe into the matter and submit a comprehensive report covering all aspects of the incident.
According to a report issued by the district administration of Swat, two explosions took place inside the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Police Station Kabal, district Swat on Monday night which shattered the roof of the police station.
The explosions, the cause of which are yet to be ascertained, have also dashed to land a mosque inside the station.
As the rescue operation is underway at the blast site for the second day, 18 fatalities have been confirmed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police while 69 were injured.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of Inspector General of Police (IGP) KP said that out of the fatalities, nine were police officers and six were civilians, while the identification of others was still being processed. The Saidu Sharif Hospital told media persons that 50 people who were injured in the incident were brought to the hospital of which 39 people were still undergoing treatment while 10 people were discharged after treatment.
The condition of seven policemen is said to be critical. In an effort to cope with the situation, the provincial government has imposed a health emergency in all health facilities of district Swat and all medical staff were directed to report to their duty stations.
To cope with emergencies, Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar has also been put on high alert while regional blood centers at the concerned district have been mobilized for the urgent provision of blood to the needy injured persons in the hospitals. In order to probe the incident of explosions inside the police station, a fact-finding committee was constituted on the direction of CM-KP. As per a notification Home Secretary KP will be the convenor of the committee and Additional IG Special Branch will be part of the committee.
“ The competent authority is pleased to constitute the following fact-finding committee into the blast at the CTD Police Station Kabal, district Swat, in the night of April 24, 2023 with the direction to submit a comprehensive report covering all aspects of the incident,” the notification read.
Advisor to Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs National Heritage and Cultural Division Engineer Amir Muqam and Provincial Health Minister Dr Jamil Faroqu visited the site of the explosions at a police station in Swat.
On this occasion, Engineer Amir Muqam announced martyred package for the police personnel who lost their lives in the incident.
He said that the nature of the explosions could not be confirmed, adding that officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other law enforcement agencies will be made part of the probing committee.
