A meeting was presided over by Capital Police Officer Safe City Islamabad Shoaib Khurram to make action against e-challan defaulters more effective, a police public relations officer said.
He said that, as per the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, e-challan tickets are being issued from Safe City Islamabad to the owners of vehicles violating traffic rules with the help of cameras and an automatic system.
The CPO Safe City Islamabad has issued orders to the e-challan staff to improve the efficiency of e-challans and solve the problems faced in issuing and submitting e-challans on a priority basis.
During the meeting, it was reported that the e-challans for vehicles taken on lease from banks after violating traffic rules were being sent to the banks instead of the violators. To overcome this problem, the banks need to link the account of the vehicle owner so that the amount can be paid from the violator account.
In this regard, the SP Headquarters was directed to hold a meeting with the banks so that they can cooperate in collecting the e-challans. The issuance of e-challans aims to ensure that vehicle owners cannot repeat traffic violations. To make e-challan payment easier for citizens, it is suggested that it should be possible through Link1, he added.
CPO Safe City has issued orders to ensure the implementation of traffic rules and to start special campaigns for public awareness.
Additionally, special orders have been given to improve the efficiency of the electronic traffic ticketing system and implement the new policy soon to maintain the integrated traffic system in the federal capital.
Citizens are requested to abide by the traffic rules and enforce the law, as this will prevent accidents and ensure the protection of life and property of citizens.
