In order to spread awareness about the green and clean environment, the provincial transport department in collaboration with Pakistan Council for World Religions (PCWR) will launch a joint campaign.
According to a statement, an important meeting was held between the officials of the transport department and PCWR-FF to discuss the vehicular emission of transport which is polluting the air of the province, especially the provincial metropolis.
The Meeting was attended by the focal person of vehicular and emissions transport department Pir Muhammad Zubair, Chairman PCWR Qari Rohullah Madani and the members of the climate resilient committee of PCWR.
The forum raised serious reservations over the two stroke engines and Smoke-emitting vehicles presence in the provincial capital despite ban by the Peshawar High Court.
The focal person of transport department informed the participants that the High Court has imposed ban on the two strokes Rickshaw but unfortunately the two strokes Rikshaw is running in our city which badly caused to affect our climate change.
The meeting called upon the law and enforcement agencies to implement the court order in letter and spirit and play its due role in environment protection.
The transport department informed that four mobile labs and one central station for vehicle emission fitness checking has been established to mitigate negative impacts of pollution in the province.
The Transport Department officials acknowledged the concerns raised by PCWR and emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to start a campaign against these 2 stroke rickshaws and provide best possible alternatives. The committee appealed to the government through a focal person to promote Eco friendly vehicles for the protection of a green and clean environment.
It was also decided in the meeting that the Transport Department and PCWR will start a joint campaign of awareness about the green and clean environment.
