KHYBER: District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kalachi has commended the role played by journalists to reform society and prevent crimes, adding the journalists community of the district have always played positive role. DPO Khyber expressed these views on the occasion of International Journalism Day during his visits to Jamrud and Bara Press Clubs. On this occasion, Mr Kalachi also prayed for martyred policemen and martyred journalists. He said that police force first responsibility was to eradicate crimes, adding that journalist community cooperation in battle against crimes and criminal elements could be succeeded. District police chief maintained that search and strike operations have been launched in the district to curb the menace of drug and other crimes. Aerial firing will not be tolerated in Khyber under any circumstances and strict action will be taken against the perpetrators, he added. Appreciating the services of the journalists, he said that the journalists of Khyber have performed high journalistic responsibilities in very difficult situations. On this occasion, the journalists of Khyber assured the DPO that the journalist community of Khyber will cooperate with the police in all possible ways in order to maintain peace in the area and eliminate other evils including drugs.
