Mardan: Mayor Mardan Hamayatullah Mayar expressed these views while addressing the City Local Council meeting said that politics, ethnicity, race, and means of conflict affect the peace and security of society. To maintain love and respect in society and to eliminate hatred and extremism, we all need to play our role. The meeting was attended by elected members, government officials, and media representatives. While addressing to the local Council session Mayor Mardan Hamayatullah Mayar said that ensuring the rule of law in the country and maintaining peace and security in society is the responsibility of the armed forces and the police as per the constitution and the law. Respecting institutions is obligatory for social stability. We condemn the disrespectful language used against government properties and institutions for political purposes. “Politics is to serve the people, protect their rights, bring positive change in their thoughts and ideas, and promote progressive thinking in society because social stability is not possible without political stability” He added. Mayor Mardan mentioned successful agreements with the local government’s ministers and governors regarding local Government powers and funds. Funds dedicated to local governments will be provided from the federal government for their projects. Funds from city Local Government will be allocated to complete incomplete developmental projects.
“I have suggested to the provincial government to eliminate inactive departments and allow the City Local Government to collect taxes on its own” He added
Mayor Mardan Hamayatullah Mayar stated that the City Local Council condemns the 9 and 10 May Incidents. We demands the the arrest of the culprits and release of innocent individuals arrested during those incidents.
“This House also demands the approval of privileges for the powers and funds of local governments, councilors representing women, farmers, and workers, as well as the provision of funds for incomplete developmental projects” He added
Elected members also expressed their views on the agenda and other matters during the council meeting.
In the meeting, agreements were unanimously approved regarding the restoration of peace and security, powers and funds for local governments, and the agreed-upon contracts for rent increases of shops by the TMA Mardan.
