PESHAWAR
University of Agriculture Peshawar in collaboration with Weather Walay on Thursday organized a seminar titled “Awareness of Climate Change” to create awareness about environmental issues among the masses.
The seminar was organized by the directorate of counseling, placement and human resource development section of the university. Vice-Chancellor of the university professor Dr Jahan Bakht attended the seminar as a chief guest.
Dr. Jahan Bakht while addressing said that Pakistan is facing many problems due to climate change which include increase in population, flood, drought and heat wave.
He said that climate change is impacting every sector of the country and if bold and creative actions were not taken to combat the environmental degradation, society would witness unprecedented damages in coming years.
People participate in the upcoming plantation drive, focus on agriculture related issues and understand the importance of water.
On this occasion, the chief executive of Weather Walay Junaid Yameen presented the objectives of the seminar. Chief Met Officer Dr. Muhammad Hanif gave a presentation on the seminar.
Dr. Fawad Imran, Chief Strategy and Partnership Officer of Informed Farmer, while giving a briefing on climate change, said that Informed Farmers provide information to people regarding crops, livestock and weather awareness. Ms. Mashal Owais, Public and Cultural Executive Officer of the organization and Syeda Samra Gilani, Media Coordination Executive briefed the participants about Climate Change Ambassadors.
At the end there was a question and answer session and Dr. Anwar Ali Shad thanked the guests and participants.
