CM aide reviews progress on social welfare activities in various districts

An important meeting held here on Thursday with Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Zakat, Ushr, Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment Salma Begum, reviewed progress on activities of the department in different districts of the province.

According to a press release, the forum reviewed the progress of ongoing social welfare activities in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur and Battagram under the social welfare office Abbottabad.
District Social Welfare Officers(DSWOs), Child Protection Officers of Abbottabad and Battagram and other high ups of the department concerned attended the meeting.
The DSWOs of their concerned districts gave a detailed presentation to the special assistant on the social welfare performance in the four districts. Welfare homes, drug rehabilitation centers, panahgah, working women hostels, visually handicapped, MRPH centers, darul kafala, special education complex and darul aman were the main agenda for brief discussion in the meeting. However child protection officers of the 2 districts also briefly discussed the steps taken by the child protection commission in Abbottabad and Battagram district.
Similarly, the DSOs also raised issues and challenges being faced by them and asked the special assistant for resolving.
On the occasion SACM Salma Begum issued directives to all DSWOs to perform their duties for the welfare of the poor, needy, deserving , widows, orphans, adding that a social welfare department is established for welfare of the depressed and financially weak people of the society.
She urged the concerned officers to expedite social welfare activities in their districts and negligence in this regard will not be acceptable.
She further said that it is the prime responsibility of everyone to assist and help the needy while social welfare department officers are more responsible in delivering their services to weak segments of the society.
