Says modern technology, safe city project need of the hour to combat terrorism

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Akhter Hayat Khan said on Thursday that two suicide attackers blew themselves up in front of Bara Police Station after police opened fire on them.
He said that police were alerted as there was information about the attack on the police station. IGP KP told a press conference at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) that three cops were martyred and nine wounded in the attacks, adding that timely action and prompt response did not allow the bombers to enter the office.
Three incidents of terrorist attacks occurred in the last two days, he said and added that police were taking effective steps to maintain law and order situation in the province.
Akhter Hayat Khan said that the Peshawar police lines incident was a major terrorist incident, the perpetrators of which have been identified and arrested.He said that the police force should be equipped with modern technology and the Safe City Project is the need of the hour.
KP police chief maintained that the police force of the province have to protect themselves and society, adding that KP has 126,000 police force but lag behind in technology. He claimed that police of the province would leave no stone unturned to maintain law and order situation in the province and no one would be allowed to disturb the peace of the province.
