Srinagar (Online): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested noted human rights activist, Khurram Pervez, in Srinagar early Friday morning.
The police visited the residence of Khurram Pervez in Srinagar on Thursday night and asked him to come to the police station for questioning. He reportedly refused, saying that he would come to the station on Friday, following which the police team left the premises.
However, another team of the police reached his house on Friday morning and insisted him to come to the police station to meet the superintendent of police. He drove to the station in his car and was detained by the station house officer (SHO) of Kothibagh police station in Srinagar, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported.
It is to mention here that Khurram Pervez was detained on Wednesday by the police at Delhi airport and was stopped from boarding a flight to Geneva to attend various programmes being held during the ongoing session of the UN Human Rights Council.
Khurram Pervez, presently the Chairperson of Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD) and Programme Coordinator of Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS), was scheduled to attend the UNHRC session
