LONDON
Great Britain declared the Wagner group of Russian private militia as a terrorist organization.
A British newspaper report said Britain was ready to make the Wagner group a banned organization under counter-terrorism laws, putting it on par with ISIS and al-Qaeda.
According to the report, the British Secretary of state for Home department has said that Wagner is a violent organization that has acted as an overseas military arm of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Media reports told that, the British Home Secretary has said that the plain and simple thing is that they are terrorists and this ban is clear in the British law.
The British Home Secretary said that Wagner was involved in looting, torture and murder, and that the group’s operations in Ukraine, the Middle East and Africa are a threat to global security.
He said that this is the reason why we are outlawing this terrorist organization and continuing to help Ukraine as much as possible.
According to media reports, under the Terrorism Act 2000, the Home Secretary has the power to ban an organization if it considers it to be involved in terrorism.
