Gold, valuables stolen from TV journalist’s house

The house of a senior journalist, Zaigham Abbas Naqvi, working with Express Media Group was looted Tuesday in broad daylight.

According to details, both Naqvi and his wife, residents of Fazal Town, Phase II Rawalpindi (Gulzar-e-Quaid) were at their workplace, Naqvi in the field while his wife a teacher at the Islamabad model college, when two women appearing to be maidservants entered their house.

Naqvi’s parents were at home and the women told them they were hired a day earlier by their son. The elderly couple let them in and both the thieves took away 12 tola gold and Rs40,000 cash.

“I was at an assignment when I received a phone call at around 2:00 p.m. by my wife that thieves had struck at our house and taken away gold and valuables,” Zaigham told this correspondent. We had hired a woman as a maidservant only a day earlier and she was to submit their identity cards Tuesday, he further informed.

A complaint has been lodged with the Airport Police Station and the investigation is underway. While talking to media, the IO said a complete forensic will be carried out and the police were collecting evidence. The accused would soon be nabbed.
