The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said it has arrested nine alleged terrorists including two Daesh commanders during an intelligence-based operation from different cities of the province.
The CTD official said in a statement that two arrested Daesh commanders were planning an attack on sensitive installations.
The two key Daesh commanders were arrested during an intelligence-based operation in a border village of Lahore. They were identified as Ameenullah and Waqar.
“The arrested suspects were important commanders of the Islamic State group and had completed planning for an attack on sensitive installations,” the statement added. The statement added that seven more terrorists were arrested during operations in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Rahim Yar Khan. They belonged to the banned Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“Explosive materials, mobile phones, weapons, and cash were seized from the arrested terrorists, the authorities claimed,” the statement added. Terrorist networks wanted to conduct terrorist attacks in all the sensitive cities simultaneously, the authorities said. Officials have started an investigation by registering cases against the arrested terrorists.
