ATTOCK: Two passengers including a women died and 25 other sustained injuries when a 22-wheeler trailer carrying Afghan refugees from Sangjani to Afghanistan overturned due to a tyre burst near Hattian Chowk on GT Road Attok. According to sources, 5 Afghan families were travelling in the trailer and the passengers were on their way back to Afghanistan. The passengers including women and children were crushed under the cargo after the trawler overturned. “At least two persons were killed and 14 others sustained severe injuries in the mishap,” rescue sources said. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital while 4 injured have been referred to Rawalpindi in critical condition. According to rescue sources, the container was carrying several Afghan families destined to Afghanistan.
The container went out of the control of the driver and overturned after colliding with a bridge, sources shared. “The injured have been shifted to hospital for medical attendance,” rescue sources added. DNA
