IMF team visits Finance Ministry for talks on loan programme

A delegation of International Monetary Fund (IMF) has attended a briefing by Pakistan’s economic team led by Caretaker Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar at the Finance Ministry in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Pakistani team informed the IMF officials led by Nathan Porter about the country’s recent economic performance and assured them of the complete implementation of the $3 billion loan programme.
The Pakistani team renewed their commitment to meet all the conditionalities set by the IMF for the loan programme.
Prior to the talks with IMF officials, the finance minister chaired a meeting of the Pakistani officials which was attended by energy, privatization, planning ministers, FBR chairman and other concerned officers.
Dr Shamshad Akhtar was updated about the implementation on the targets given by the IMF and preparations for the meeting with the IMF delegation.
According to sources in the Finance Ministry, the finance minister directed everyone to be fully prepared for the parley with the IMF team.
