Nawaz Sharif, US ambassador discuss Pakistan’s political situation

US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome met PML-N supremo and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at his residence in Jati Umra, Lahore on Saturday.
PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz was also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the US ambassador and PML-N supremo discussed the political situation in Pakistan and other matters of mutual interest. In a statement issued later, it was said that in the meeting with Donald Blome, Nawaz Sharif emphasized the importance of mutual relations between the two countries.
According to the statement, the political and economic situation of Pakistan was discussed. Nawaz Sharif expressed his confidence that the people would vote for PML-N again in the upcoming elections.
The PML-N supremo also raised the issue of the genocide of innocent Palestinians at the hands of the Israeli Army, urging the need for an immediate ceasefire and transportation of human and medical assistance in Gaza. It bears mentioning here that British High Commissioner Jane Marriott also held a meeting with Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, in which issues of trade, investment promotion, and improvement of mutual relations between the two countries were discussed. On this occasion, Nawaz Sharif said that Britain was Pakistan’s biggest trading partner in Europe, and expressed his concern over the decrease in overseas development cooperation for Pakistan, urging the British government to increase development assistance to Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif also emphasized on the British government to play a positive role in ensuring an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
