UNITED NATIONS
China’s Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Li Song, while addressing the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, discussed Japan’s process of releasing nuclear contaminated water from Fukushima into the sea.
Li Song reiterated strong opposition to China and urged Japan to accept stricter international supervision.
On Saturday, Li Song said, despite widespread skepticism from the international community and strong opposition from concerned countries, Japan continued to release and promote the release of Fukushima’s nuclear-contaminated water into the sea, according to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency.
He said that releasing Fukushima’s nuclear contaminated water into the sea is in no way a private matter of Japan. This is a serious issue of nuclear safety related to the health of all mankind, global marine environment and international public interest.
Li Song said Japan should take legitimate concerns at home and abroad seriously and deal with the Fukushima nuclear contaminated water issue responsibly and constructively.
Li Song pointed out that in this regard, China has always advocated and actively promoted the strengthening of international supervision over Japan.
