Total registered voters in KP are 20,821,301, including 11,436,241men and 9,385,060 women, says Shamshad Khan

The Provincial Election Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shamshad Khan, urged people to cast their vote in upcoming general elections and highlight the significance of vote and voters in democratic system.
He was addressing a ceremony regarding National Voters Day in Peshawar here on Thursday.
Election Commission officers and staff participated in large numbers and the National Anthem was presented.
He said that the Election Commission of Pakistan is a constitutional and independent body whose main responsibility is to conduct transparent, free and impartial elections in the country.
The Election watchdog has released the final list of constituencies and preparations are being made for the general elections, he said.
On the occasion of National Voter’s Day, seminars and ceremonies have been organized under the supervision of Regional Election Commissioners and District Election Commissioners.
The overall aim of the events is to make the youth recognize the importance of voting and their power, so that the turnout in the upcoming general elections will increase significantly, he said that the turnout in the last general elections was about 44 percent.
The Provincial Election Commissioner further said that the facilities in all the polling stations have been reviewed in the general elections.
He said that a total of 20,821,301 voters are registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which the number of male voters is 11,436,241 and female voters is 9,385,060.
Mr Shamshad Khan said that it is a legal offense to prevent women from voting and ECP is taking practical steps to increase female participation in electoral process and reduce gender gap.
The Provincial Election Commissioner said that the role of the administration and the police in conducting the elections in KP has been commendable, it is expected that this cooperation will continue in the next general elections as well.
