However, the UAE has assured Pakistan of its unconditional cooperation.
It should be remembered that due to India’s refusal to visit, PCB organized the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka this year under the hybrid model, only four matches could be held in the country.
Sources said that holding a few matches in the UAE during the Champions Trophy in such a situation is not out of the question, but the additional expenses will have to be borne by the ICC.
In such a situation, the format of the tournament will also have to be changed. The Council has already handed over the hosting of the Champions Trophy to Pakistan, but the agreement was signed on Friday.
The deadlock had been in place for a long time, with the former management committee raising several objections to the document sent by the council on the advice of senior lawyers. In May, ICC Chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Jeff Allardyce visited Pakistan but the problem was not solved.
Pakistan had taken a stand that if a country refused to send a team citing security reasons, then an independent security agency would have to review the situation avoiding a unilateral decision, the ICC has accepted this demand.
