PESHAWAR: Pakistan Army has re-opened and functionalized Government Primary School Madi-Jan in South Waziristan. The school has been closed for educational activities since 2015 due to a wave of terrorism in the region, said a statement issued here on Tuesday. The move is part of the Pakistan Army campaign “Illam Sab Kay Liay” to eradicate the darkness of illiteracy from the remote areas of South Waziristan. A function was organized by the Pakistan Army in the school in which books and stationery were distributed among the children for academic motivation. The local people of the area highly appreciated the tireless efforts of the provincial government and Pakistan Army for promoting education in the area and focusing on opening all schools closed due to militancy. Appreciating the campaign, the local people said that if other inactive education centers are activated in the same way, it will not only increase the overall literacy rate, but the youth of the merged districts will be able to play their role in the development of the country.
