Petitions from Najam Saqib son of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar and Bushra Bibi came up for hearing in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in audio leaks case Wednesday.
A single bench of IHC led by Justice Babar Sattar heard the case.
Latif Khosa counsel for Bushra Bibi and Attorney General (AG) Mansoor Awan appeared in the court.
The alleged audio of conversation of Najam Saqib with Abuzar PTI ticket candidate from provincial assembly seat in PA-137 was leaked. Like wise the audio of Bushra Bibi talks with Latif Khosa her counsel was leaked.
AG presented Prime Minister (PM) house report in the court.
AG told the court federal government had not allowed any agency in connection with audio taping . ISI, FIA, IB and any other agencies are not allowed to tape audio.
During the hearing of the case AG said FIA first of all has to see who recorded the call. FIA is writing to telecom companies after court’s orders. .
AG told the court if any government agency is recording then it is recording illegally.
As per ISI report will have to be obtained from social media plat form and then the investigations can go ahead.
Justice Babar Sattar remarked ISI is saying it cannot trace its sources that audio has been leaked from where.
The court inquired why ISI filed report through defence ministry.
AG said it should have filed report through PM house.
During hearing of the case counsel for PEMRA said we had said TV channels would not broadcast such audio leaks. We sent this matter to council of complaint and it will decide about it.
Justice Babar Sattar inquired from counsel of PEMRA are you working effectively as regulator. Have you issued immediate directives to TV channels in any other case. You are saying you cannot take immediate action.
Justice Babar Sattar again said the matter will go to council of complaints.
