Court declares maintainable defamation case against ex-DG NAB

ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Court Islamabad has declared maintainable criminal defamation case filed by Tayyaba Gill against former DG NAB Shahazad Salim. Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Sohail while accepting Tayyaba Gill plea issued notice to the respondents. The court directed former DG NAB Shahzad Salim to appear before it on February 15. The court remarked according to SSP report no evidence has been found for initiating criminal proceedings against Shahzad Salim. According to defence counsel Shahazad Salim has not refuted the remarks expressed by him on media. Shahzad Salim said that his words have been presented in exaggerated way. But he did not refute them. As per SSP report Shahzad Salim has not refuted his statement against Tayyaba Gill. The case can be made against Shahzad Salim under defamation clauses. it may be mentioned that Tayyaba Gill had resorted to court against the insulting allegations leveled by Shahazad Salim against her.
